American Indian Summer Bridge
The American Indian Summer Bridge provides a summer residential program for 1st-semester American Indian/Indigenous freshmen students at The University of New Mexico-Main Campus to experience college campus life, engage in cultural & community events, provide introduction to college level courses, and establish a competitive GPA. Preparing participants for success at UNM, establishing valuable friendships & networks, and providing a smooth transition from high school to college life are additional components of American Indian Summer Bridge.
Summer 2026 Program Dates
- Saturday, June 20, 2026 to, Friday, July 10, 2026

AISB Benefits
- Earn college credit & establish a competitive GPA

AISB Expenses
- Housing, course tuition & fees, meals at LaPosada (LaPo) Dining Hall are covered by AISB.
- AISB does not cover meals outside of LaPo.
- New Student Orientation (NSO) fees are covered by AISB (only for First-Year - In Person) upon successful completion of the program.
Eligibility
- 2026 High School Graduate
- Admitted to UNM-Main Campus as a 1st-semester Freshman for Fall 2026
- Minimum High School GPA of 2.5
- Enrolled Member of a Federally Recognized Tribe
- A copy of your Certificate of Indian Blood (CIB) or Proof of Tribal Enrollment is required
- Completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for 2026-2027
- Registered for New Student Orientation (NSO) before May 15, 2026
AISB Expectations
Participants must:
- Attend the full 3-week academic & residential program.
- Attend the Opening Day with their parent/guardian & secure their own transportation to UNM-Cental Campus for both the Opening & Closing of the program.
- Register for New Student Orientation (NSO) by May 15, 2026.
- Comply with all UNM campus policies regarding safety, conduct, academic honesty, & behavior.
- Please refer to the Student Code of Conduct - UNM Pathfinder; University Policies, etc.
- Meet with American Indian Student Services (AISS) Advisement Staff for a minimum of FOUR (4) consecutive semesters (Fall/Spring) following the program.
- Engage in student support programming provided by AISS.
